HAPPY HOUR FRIDAYS 15:30 – 17:30 Server Time
(Starting 10/10/03)

Format:
Any player who signs up and plays a game (win or lose/ranked or skill) is entered into a drawing for a prize.

Themes:
Each week we will have a theme.
This weeks theme is Monastery VS Nonames
(So Monastery Only and Noname Only decks)

Next weeks theme will be Magog VS Cult of Purification

If you can’t come up with these decks then come up with a free for all (or anything goes deck)
Tag your character with which deck you are using so I can help match up players.

Entry fee until prize support
1 CX Coin, 1 BP Common or UC

Prizes:
All players who sign up and play a game will be entered into a drawing to win one Break Point UC or C of the inventory that I currently have until I can get prize support (which I am hoping will be a random booster).
3 people will be randomly picked to receive a prize.

Donations:
Any who would like to donate prizes leave me a note.

This is my first tourney so any help is welcomed.

Maybe bump up ante to a crap rare instead of bp c or an UC? Just someting to boost prize for the winner/s

Thanks for the donation offer.

Jono and SS

Well hopefully I can get prize support.
Question: Which is worth more a BP (BreakPoint) UC, C or a Chronx Coin?

CX Coins can be valued at 50 cents, since you can buy them in packs of 12 for 6 bucks. This puts a CX Coin roughly at the value of a crap rare. Utopian is pricing BP UCs at 50 cents a piece. But when you're the only one selling them on the secondary market, you can pretty much put whatever price you want... and that still doesn't mean people will buy them at that rate. And since Utopian doesn't have any CX Coins listed, we'd comparing apples to oranges anyway. UCs tended to sell at some price between 10 and 25 cents a piece, with the exception of certain power UCs. When the newness of BP wears off, and there is more BP UC/C in circulation, expect the price/value of BP UCs to drop to a level similar to UC/C from the other sets.

Think of it this way. You can redeem 7 CX Coins for a Booster Pack, or 61 CX Coins for a Booster Box. Would you trade 7 UCs to get a Booster Pack? I think anyone would do that in a heart beat. Would you trade 61 UCs to get a Booster Box? You'd be crazy not to. This example should be an indication that the value of a UC is at least less than the value of a CX Coin.

CHANGE TO HAPPY HOUR

ENTRY FEE:
None until prize support.
When prize support is given then fee will be 1 CX COIN or Rare or 2 BP UCs or 4 BP Cs (Depending on your card wealth I would imagine). (Subject to change)

PRIZES:
Until prize support -
3 players get one card from my very limited collection of Break Point UCs and Cs and any donated cards.

When given prize support -
3 players are given prizes from prize support.
(For those who don't get the obvious)

I'm not seeing many people play in this because of the prize..

To draw larges amount of players the prize has to be good or large in amounts.

Also most people who plays in tournys are vets which are only in it for the prizes anyway.

I myself don't like tournys where you risk anything and the reward for winning isn't won't the starting risk of losing cards.

If you want to charge a Coin for entry make the prizes like this:

1: 2 Rares (Med to high value)
2: 1 Rare (Med value)
3: 1 Rare (Crap)
BLT: Handful of BP UC/C

Or drop the entry fee.. and just have a prize for the winner.

Chico

This is not a traditional tourney where you have to win to keep moving on to the next level.

This is a time for all to come and play a game (win or lose;get put into a drawing) and hopefully win some cards.

If I can get prize support 1 CX coin should be worth a booster.

it's kinda like Mayhem in wa, the more you win the more % chance you have of winning a prize.

Quoting Kosh "When the newness of BP wears off, and there is more BP UC/C in circulation, expect the price/value of BP UCs to drop to a level similar to UC/C from the other sets."

Could not have said any better, prices will eventually drop. Hopefully no one is using my prices too faithfully. Too many people asking about BP values, might as well had created one.

I honestly dont see myself playing even if you manage to get prize support. Kudos to Klaw for running tournies without entry fees. This reminds me of the guy when we had our old chronx.com forums who wanted to have a tourney where the entry fee was a R or VR (cant remember) and when we all carefully looked at the breakdown he was going to keep 20% of the entry fees for himself. If you're going to have an entry fee, why not turn the coins into a prize for playing. Winner takes all, or some breakdown. We've had too many gracious people (including Kosh now) hosting free tournies to make me want to do this.

Just my 2 cents.

Frank

This is not a tourney! (In the typical fashion) It is more of a time to get together with fellow chronxers and play some games. Plus if you play a (theme) game, win or lose, you are entered into a drawing to win some cards.

As far as the entry fee there is none for now and maybe for the time being they will be held at bay.

What would you say is a fair "salary" for some one to run an event?

Even BSR suggests having an entry fee to get more events going.
