FactionSupremacy returns.

Last time APPA edged out a good TCF team, and crushed the DR and the TAA.

OK, so what is this going to be like.

It will have TWO major components, a "trivia" (i hate the word, my questions are often more brain teasers than trivia) part, and a game part.

TRIVIA
Definition questions
Scenario questions
Card use questions
Map questions
Art questions (these questions will be worth less)
Strategy questions
ChronX history (just a bit)
Source Story (if it comes back online)

In a week or so I will post sample questions from each category.

GAME PLAY
Not sure how I will do this yet.
Options include:
1) have up to 5 players from diff factons square off euro 40/4
2) give deck constraints and each faction has 20 minutes to design their decks and then play....
3)

Overall, its a biathalon, as it has two components.
I have to make decisions on how to scale things (what are their respective values).
I have to make decisinos on what the MINIMUM number of players that will be allowed in any team. id like it to be five...but im not sure if we can get five....
Also, i have to decide if there can be mixed teams..if teams can be comprised of more than one faction.
Already, i know that factions can field more than one team...in other words the TCF, for example, can have two TCF teams, as long as both have the minimum amoutn of players.

There will be prizes.

Also, this is a team event which requires lots of communication with your faction mates. The first step is to TALK to your faction mates about forming a team!

More later

Ok, heres my idea for the number of players on teams.

I think the minimum nuber of players should be no more than 3. We all got the noshows of RZB fresh in mind don't we? Sure some teams will be able to play fine with 5 players, but if we want to get as many teams as possible, I think 3 is a good number.

But 3 will only be a minimum value. Set a top of i.e. 6. So any team can be from 3 to 6 players. (When you sign up, you sign up all players, no adding players in the middle of the FS).

In the game play part of FS, teams with diffrent number of players would most likely play vs each other. This can be easily solved by excluding a number of players from the team with the most players. So if TEAM A has 3 players, and TEAM B has 5, 2 players from TEAM B is not allowed to play. It'll them be a 3 vs 3 match.

In the "trivia" part all players from a team are allowed to participate. This is their advantage by having a team with more players; more heads to think during the trivia.

I'm not sure what to do with teams where not all players show up at a FS thou...

That's all.

1) Can we not have this on tuesday? Since I can't make those :-) Maybe saturday would be a good time since we know most of us are free on saturdays (from the RZB experience)

2) can a faction have more than one team? like A.P.P.A. 1, A.P.P.A. 2, etc.?

3) when will this be held? (month, or relativity to now)

Is this where I should put my comments? I didn't see anywhere else.

I am not in a faction, so I won't play. original.gif But at the teaser I thought it seemed good, though most of the questions were more vet-oriented (not that that's a problem.) I am unsure how the real thing will be, but if it's like what I saw, here are my comments.

I think the definitition questions should be changed somewhat so they don't include controversial issues like predator versus parasite. Or maybe this will always happen, I don't know.

My favorite part was the "description identification" part, where you had to identify "They ask questions later, but what do they do first?" as Superior Forces, and such. original.gif

Also, I think the map part should be worth less; seems like if you studied the maps you could get it.

FactionSupremacy Update

1) Ok, Bus, I won't hold this on a Tuesday ;-)

2) A faction CAN have more than one team (like APPA 1, APPA 2, etc)

3) I plan on starting FactionSupremacy

a- in late January (after the World Championships)

OR

b- in February

4) Minimum number of players from a faction for a team.
I am leanging towards taking Commander Raptor's counsel and going with three.
The other option is four. And I think Ill go with a max of 5 or 6, and will encourage large factions to make two teams.

5) Prize support. I am going to talk to Andrea and Klaw about this.

One possible addition is to have each faction put a certain amout of cards from their card bank into a "kitty." Not every faction has to do this...but only the ones who do are eligible to win the "kitty."

I'd like feedback on this.

Please, me wants feedback on all of it!!

Also, please start telling me if you are interested in making a team from your faction mates!!

FactionSupremacy: Biathalon starts Saturday, January 24th. The main thread for FS:B is in the new forums at http://chronx.ipbhost.com. Please feel free to ask any questions here though, and I will check this periodically as well.

Sign ups have begun. So get off your duff and sign up! Teams of 3-5, all from the same faction. APPA won the last time. Who will reign supreme this time?

I think theres about a week left now, until the posted START DATE, of FactionSupremacy. I am interested in either making or joining an RCM team to enter this event. Right now I'm unsure exactly how many FREQUENT, active RCM members we currently have playing, but I think we have enough for a team. original.gif

ohmy.gif If any RCM members are interested in participating in this event, please reply before next Fri., to see if we can gets others in on this and form a team.
ohmy.gif If there is already an RCM team for Faction Supremacy already made, then I like to know if theres a need for an extra player, whether it be active roster or back-up =), please reply before next Fri.

Oh BTW I think since Capowski is partially running this RODEO, I dont think he's avialable to be on the team. unsure.gif Which sucks, since him and covell could have been the SHAQ and Kobe of the TEAM. tongue.gif

HA! laugh.gif

Good one.

Well no, of course not. I was referring to the Shaq and Kobe from last year, who were just AWSOME playing together and donimated to win themselves a championship. original.gif --->before all the bad stuff happend, well except for shaq, he had made his mark as a bad actor long ago.

FactionSupremacy:Biathalon begins Saturday, January 24th @ 19:00.

I will run FS:B for four consecutive Saturdays and try to keep the 19:00 slot for all four Saturdays. I may have to adjust because of Director Tournies...we will see.

I am desperately trying to get a web site done. Until then, just check the forums. Especially check: http://chronx.ipbhost.com/

We have two teams signed up so far:

Celestial Defenders
AoA

Interest has been expressed by TCF, the Chicken Clan, TAA, RCM, APPA, the DR and the Knights of the Round.

The Centauri Foundation is pulling away from the Dragon Riders, Knights of the Round and the APPA. AoA, TAA and RedClaw Movement are lagging.

But all hope is not lost. The ring still eludes the enemy and Frodo's quest continues. Er, scratch that.

Rather, go to http://factionsupremacy.failsafe.cc

Two more full weeks of factionsupremacy: biathalon and then the finals!

also, teams can STILL join. so get a faction together and compete...even a two player team can participate ;-)
